8 August 1686, the Rector of the Republic of Ragusa requested the closure of the port of Durres

Rector of the Republic of Ragusa, on August 8, 1686, instructed his ambassador to the Turkish Pasha in Bosnia, who, against a sum of money, intervened to close the port of Durrës. The rector himself asserted that the large circulation of goods through the port of Durres threatened the destruction of the Republic of Ragusa, one of the most developed Adriatic centers in the Middle Ages. Indirectly, this also speaks of the great development, role and importance that Durrës had at that time, despite the Ottoman invasion.
