One of the first Albanian geologists, Veronika Meko, was born in Elbasan on June 28th, 1932. After finishing the Polytechnic in Tirana, she worked as a technical geologist at the “Oil Extraction Enterprise” in Patos. During 1957-1961, without being detached from work, she attended the Faculty of Geology and Mining in Tirana and graduated engineer-geologist. Shortly thereafter, she was appointed to the General Directorate of Geology as responsible for the Central Geology Fund, where she was involved with the organization of the scientific library of geology, the establishment of geology archives, geological institutions and enterprises. She is the initiator and co-author of the bibliography of Albanian publications, geology, mining and oil and bibliography, for the period 1944-1985. She is also a co-author of the text “Geology” for high tech schools and the map of useful minerals of Albania.
