Today is commemorated Prof. Stefanic Pollos, one of the outstanding representatives of Albanian historical science. He was born in Përmet, in 1923. He attended Liceu of Korça, and since 1942 participated in the National Liberation War. He was among the leaders of the “Voice of Youth” and “Union” newspapers. After graduating from Moscow’s Lomonesov University, he lectured at the 2-year High Pedagogical Institute in Tirana. With the establishment of the University of Tirana, he was appointed Dean of FakuItetit History-Philology. In the last 35 years of his research and creative career, he has been head of the Institute of History, where he has headed dozens of commissions on education and science and culture issues, has organized and conducted dozens of scientific events and gatherings. Prof. Pollos has left a rich legacy of articles and studies, published in our scientific journals, but also outside. For many years, he has directed the magazine “Historical Studies”, has been responsible editor of textile “History of Albania”, for high schools, text with several volumes, which has been republished several times, co-author of the publication, “History of Albania” And “Féliori Encyclopedic Albanian”, author of the collection “In the footsteps of national history”. Many of his writings and works have remained in the script. He died on May 16, 1997.
