The G-7 finance ministers and international financial institutions, in the meeting of 13 July 1999 in Brussels, defined the perspective of the reconstruction of Kosovo destroyed by war. There, among other things, was the use of the German mark, trade and economic exchanges in Kosovo, the ultimate termination of its economic dependency by the Yugoslav dinar. This constituted an important measure for Kosovo’s economic independence from Serbia and facilitated its integration into Europe.
