In the decision of the Senate of Venice dated May 2nd, 1391, it is said that if the death of Gjergj Topia, who owned Durrës, was known, the forces of the Republic had to invade the city and its castle so that they did not fall into the hands of the Turks. The fall of Durres in the hands of the Ottomans, was wrote in the decision, seriously damages the sailing and trade of Venice.
