The Albanian Philately begins on May 5th, 1913. On that day, Lef Nosi, who served as post minister, realized the first Albanian stamp. This date is also accepted by foreign philatelists. The first series of Albanian stamps, therefore, was with overprinted stamps. The purpose of their issue was to draw attention to the rebirth of the Albanian state and to provide incomes for the empty state budget.
