On February 18th, 1933, in Tirana was born Skënder Selimi, who is considered as one of the creators of the Albanian modern dance school. He completed the Artistic Lyceum “Jordan Misja” and graduated as director at the Institute “Lunaçarski” of Moscow. He started his career as artistic leader at the Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Tirana. He worked as director in the Albanian television and later he was appointed professor and head of the department of the Faculty of Dramatic Arts at the Academy of Arts, where in 1988, he retired. For his rich artistic creativity he had received several titles and awards inside and outside the country.
