From a letter from the Senate of Ragusa dated 28 May 1430, we learn the impression of Gjon Kastriot’s uprising against the Turkish invaders. The Turks are said in the letter, “they have conquered all of Gjon Kastrioti’s province and have fallen on all the fortresses, except for the two, which have strengthened for themselves. A part of the province was given to the Turks and a part was left to John. Now Sultan is located near Ioannina and fights in those provinces, who were Esau despot despot of Arta.
