At the dawn of May 19, 1914, the patriots surrounded Esat Toptani, at his home in Durres. To avoid the turmoil, King Vilhelm Vidi handed it to the Italian Embassy. So Esat Toptani left a war ship in Italy, provided he did not return to Albania. But as always the word did not keep it.
