On March 12th, 1992, died Martin Camaj, one of the most prominent personalities of the Albanian culture. The first verses were published in the volume of poetry “Një fyell ndër male”, which came to light in 1953. After the second volume “Kënga e Vrrinit”, he obtained his PhD in Rome with “Meshari” of the Gjon Buzuku. In the field of journalism has left many articles published in various Albanian and foreign organs. Along with Ernest Koliqi he leaded the magazine “Shejzat”. He founded and directed for 30 years the Department of the Albanian language in Munich, where prepared generations albanologists and published a study on “Jetën e profetëve” of Bogdani, “Fjalëformimin e gjuhës shqipe” etc. Later he published the volumes of poetry and novels “Lirika mes dy moteve”, “Njeriu më vete dhe me të tjerët”, “Rrathë”, “Harpa”, “Shkundullimë”, “Dranja”. His rich creativity closes with the volume of poetry “Palimpast”. Martin Camaj with all his rich heritage and dense activity remains a bridge between the Albanian and European culture.
