On May 1st, 1886, the city of Chicago in the United States, was involved in a massive strike and powerful demonstrations took place, under the placement of the 8-hour working day. With the Chicago movement, the workers of many US cities, even of other countries, became solidarized. Since then, May 1st, was declared the Day of War of Workers all over the world, for better working and living conditions, for freedom and democracy. For us, the International Workers’ Day was celebrated in Shkodra in 1905 for the first time in a close circle of workers and craftsmen.
