The professor Robert Jokli, who devoted all his life to the study of the Latin language was born on February 24th, 1877. He worked in the library of the University of Vienna and gave lectures in the Albanian language. The Austrian albanologist contributed in different areas of our ancient language. In 1911 he published “Studies of Albanian etymology and word formation,” and in 1923 ” Linguistic and historical-cultural tracking in the field of the Albanian language”. He has left numerous studies that were published even after his death. After the occupation of Austria by the German Nazis, the albanologist with Jewish origin was arrested and persecuted. He died on May 8th, 1942 to the concentration camps that established Hitler.
