In Mamuras, on April 6th, 1924, in a political ambush were killed two American tourists: Robert Coleman and Georg De Long. The democrat MPs at a meeting organized on the occasion of the funeral ceremony of Avni Rustemi, accused the government for this political murder, which aimed the aggravation of relations with the United States.
