On April 30th, 1910, began the battle of Kaçanik. The Turkish forces arriving from Ferizaj and Skopje, were approached to the rebel positions and attacked them. For two days were held fierce fighting. On 1 May, the insurgents were forced to retreat leaving the Kaçanik, but they continued their resistance to 150 to 200 people in the Kacanik Mountains, Morava, Presevo, Gjilan, Bujanovac and elsewhere. The losses were great on both sides. The battle at Kaçanik, was called by the contemporaries “Albanian Thermopiles”.
