On May 26th, 1920, a large rally was held in Korça, attended by thousands of citizens and representatives of the villages of Korça and Devoll. The national flag was solemnly raised in the rally and a declaration was declared for joining Korça with the Government of Tirana. The rally of Korça preceded the preparations made by Greek chauvinists for the occupation of the city after the departure of French armies, deployed since World War I.
