The first battle of the Albanian Army, formed after the League of Lezha, took place in June 1444, in Lower Diber, in the area of Torviolet. The Albanian Army was commanded by Gjergj Kastrioti, and the Ottoman one, by AIi Pasha, the famous Turkish general. Skanderbeg hid in the back of the enemy, 3000 knights commanded by Gjon Muzaka and Hamza Kastrioti and left an important reserve, commanded by Vrana Konti. Within three hours, the Albanians managed to surround and destroy the great Ottoman army. This first victory boosted Albanians’ confidence and Skanderbeg’s authority inside and outside the country.
