The first partisan battalion in the district of Gjirokastra was the “Chameria” battalion, which was formed at Konispol on June 18, 1943, on the base of the same name battalion. Most of the anti-fascist fighters were sons of martyr Chameria. The battalion conducted combat operations in Konispol, Delvina, Chamaria, Vurg, Dropull, Libohova, Dangelli, Deshnice, Kelcyre and elsewhere.
