On the initiative of the Association of Macedonian Cultural and Artistic Associations of Macedonia in Debar, on May 16, 1997, the First Festival of the Citizen Song “Penestias Sound” was opened. Six artistic troops attended by 250 members. The festival, which has become a tradition, aims to preserve and spread these songs.
