After the death of Skanderbeg, February 13th, 1468, was assembled the Senate of the Republic of Venice who took the decision on the measures necessary to face Turkish danger. The Senate sent urgently in Durres the Bishop Pal Ëngjëlli with the mission to seek to the Gjon Kastrioti, the only son of Skanderbeg, his father’s properties. The aim of the Venetian Senate was to ensure the continuity of the Kastriot dynasty.
