The burial of Avni Rustemi, which took place in Vlora on May 1st, 1924, turned into a national demonstration. It was attended by 10,000 villagers and citizens of the province of Vlora, 300 representatives from all over Albania, 26 deputies, all leaders of opposition groups and representatives of the army. Virtually, Avni Rustemi’s mortal ceremony marks the beginning of the June Revolution.
