After the suppression of the June Revolution and the triumph of legality, the whole country was declared the curfew. All prefectures, were placed under the orders of the commanders of the operation, were dismantled all clubs and democratic societies, the freedom of the press and speech was banned. Was dissolved national army who participated in the revolution and was replaced by the mercenary militia, were abolished the Ministry of War and the Ministry of Education, whose staff had joined the revolution. All these measures aimed the establishment of a dictatorship that followed with great persecutions.
