On the morning of April 7th, 1939, the Italian fascist troops, under the general command of Guxoni began the barbaric aggression against Albania. After fierce bombardment by sea and air, the fascist forces tried to disembark at our major ports, but they encountered the armed resistance of the volunteer patriots. This is how is described the situation in the Albanian Agency telegram in Paris: “successive attempt of landing, have begun at 5:30 pm at Pisht-Palle, in cape of Durres and Saranda”.
