The Albanian insurgents under the direction of Ded Gjo Luli, on March 27th, 1911 begun the attack against the Ottoman garrison in Deçiç and liberated it. For the protection of the city were 250 fighters. The Ottoman invaders, launched successive attacks to retake the city, but without success. Only by mid-May, over 5000 Ottoman forces attacked the insurgents and, after bloody fighting could take Deçiç.
