In February 1880, the Jesuit ancestors in Shkodra established the first museum in the country. The main materials were archaeological objects, collections of old coins and weapons, national clothes and materials from the global cultures. A great assistance in the establishment of the museum, gave Father Gjeçov, who had created a collection of 500 archaeological objects. Some of these objects today are in major museums of Europe, such as London, Berlin, Rome, etc.
