Albanian nation proudly remembers today the birth of Albanian Nobel Prize laureate, Gonxhe Bojaxhiu the great Mother Teresa, who devoted all his life to the poor and miserable service. She was born in Skopje, in a simple Albanian family, on August 26, 1910. Since he was 18, she went to Ireland and devoted himself to the church. In 1928, she settled in Calcutta, India, and was named Mother Teresa of Calcutta. Initially she taught geography and theology. She was 38 when she put on the white sarin of the Indians and created the Congregation of Charity Missionaries, devoting herself helping and educating the poor and abandoned children, the sick who were suffering the streets and the hopeless needy who fluttered in Calcutta and all over India. The example and the profoundly human activity of Mother Teresa and her colleagues expanded and spread throughout the world. Today in 120 countries there are 588 charity houses bearing her name. Mother Teresa’s initiative, the great Albanian, was praised everywhere. She was awarded the highest awards and prizes: from the Nobel Prize to the “Honor of the Nation”, the highest title given to the most prominent people of our ancient nation.
