In 1476, after Gjergj Kastrioti’s death, a large Turkish army surrounded Kruja for the fourth time. The heroic city resisted the siege until the spring of 1478, when the second Sultan Mehmeti came, with great military reinforcements. The legendary castle starved by hunger and lack of weapons fell into the hands of the Turks on June 16, 1478.
