In Korça, on May 4th, 1831, was born Jovan Kosturi, who worked for the spread of language and culture in the enslaved Albania. The house and his shop turned into bases for storing and distributing Albanian newspapers and books, sending emigrants from abroad. Along with Ohran Pojanin, Thimi Markon, etc., created in 1886 the “Komitetin e fshehtë të Korçës” which among other things helped to open the first Albanian School and to its good progress. For this they were persecuted and persecuted by the Ottoman regime: they murdered Spiro Kosturi and imprisoned him. In 1911, in the war of Orman Chifligu, died even his nephew Kristaq Kosturi.
