Andrea Dara, arbëresh folklorist and linguist, father of the famous poet Gavril Dara Jr., died on April 2nd, 1872. He is the author of a the Albanian grammar published in 1830 a work on the customs and traditions of the Arbëresh villages, who was published in 1859, of a bilingual Italian-Albanian dictionary and a of volume of folk songs of Sicily Arberesh. Many of his unpublished studies and writings are in the funds of the Danish Royal Library in Copenhagen.
