Gavril Dara
January 8th, 1826 in Palac Adriano of Sicily, in an ancient Arbëresh family was born Gavril Dara Junior. He graduated in jurisprudence, but became known for the patriotic activity and as a writer. He took part in the movement of Garibaldi. He served as a lawyer and in administrative high posts. For several years he directed the notebook “La riforma” in Rome. The literary and scientific interests of Dara were wide and included the poetry, folklore, archeology and justice. He except the poems in Italian, entered into history of literature with the romantic ballad ” Kënga e sprasme e Balës “, that reflects the resistance of Albanians lead by Gjergj Kastriot Skanderbeg.
