Along the Yugoslav-Albanian border on December 14th, 1924, fierce fighting took place between the government forces and the bands of Ahmet Zogu, supported by Yugoslav forces and Russian units. The fighting continued until December 24th, where the democratic government of Fan Noli, was forced to leave in Vlora and then to Italy. Afterward, the former prime minister of the last cabinet before the Revolution of June, Iliaz Vrioni, took the power in Tirana and after the arrival of Ahmet Zogu in capital, he resigned.
