4 July 1923, the Albanians of Boston perform “Othello” brought to Albanian by Noli

In Boston’s “Arligton Theater”, one of the city’s biggest scenes, our migrants performed Shakespeare’s “Othello” tragedy, brought to Albanian by Noli. This show occupies a special place in the history of Albanian theater, because all female roles were interpreted by Albanian migrants, which was extraordinary for the time and second, because the show was prepared by Faik Konica, who played also the role of Duka. Writing for this event, Konica emphasized: “Othello’s’ performing at the Boston Arlington Theater on July 4, 1923, was far more than an amateur toy: it was for the first time in Albanian, strong representation and Beautiful of a tragic masterpiece “.
