On the day of the anniversary of the Italian constitution, on 3 June 1917, General Commander of the Italian invasion forces in Albania, General Ferrero, on behalf of the Italian government proclaimed the “Independence of Albania” but “under the shadow and protection of the Kingdom of Italy”. This was a maneuver for the realization of the Italian protectorate over our country.
