In the ancient city of Berat, in 1745, was born the Albanian language promoter Kostandin Berati, student of the Academy of Voskopoja. He left his marks in Gjirokastra. From him there is a manuscript, a 52-page teaching book. The book contains two Albanian-Greek whistles, some translations of the gospel, prayer, the spelling of a religious faith, and a chronicle in Greek. The work of Constantin Berat has a linguistic and cultural significance and marks the first attempt to introduce Albanian into religious services and school. Some of his writings are also copied by the teacher, Constantin Capi. In the manuscript of Constantine Berat, there is also a special alphabet.
