On February 28th, 1989 the Kosovo miners of Trepca mine started their strike that gave new impulse to the struggle for freedom and independence in Kosovo and throughout the former Yugoslavia. Later the First Congress of independent Syndicates of Kosovo declared February as “Miners Day” of Kosovo.
