On May 27, 1946, the Law on Agrarian Reform was promulgated and a year later, the relevant annex. Out of this reform, 288,400 hectares of land were distributed and the expropriation was done without reward. The land gave the villagers with tapi, but they had no right to sell it, neither leave it for inheritance nor rent it.
