On December 18th, 1908 in Gjirokastra, with the initiative of Bajo Topulli was organized a meeting where it was decided the establishment of “Drita” club. In the first session the Club elected as chairman the lawyer Petro Poga and the commission for compiling the statute. In the club participated many people from different layers of society, mostly intellectuals. Their ideal and common goal was the liberation and the development of the homeland. The club had an important role in the dissemination and teaching of the Albanian language in the collection of folklore and ancient traditions of our people.
