Prince Wied, on December 3rd, 1913 was officially took the Albanian crown, with the decision of the Great Powers. He came to Albania in March 1913 and established his government. During the reign, Prince Wied became the conductor of the policy of European powers, especially of Germany and Austro-Hungary. Under the external pressure, he made concessions to the detriment of Albanian sovereignty of the chauvinist Greek areas, admitting the protocol of Corfu. The main role in the government of Wilhelm Wied had played Esat Toptani. With the beginning of World War I, he lost the exterior support and was forced to leave Albania.
