In Gjergj Bardh’s report, to the Vatican, on August 20, 1629, the resistance of the Dukagjini highlanders to the Ottoman invaders is spoken. “Those people, in a relationship, do not obey the Sultan nor give him tribute, Damaged and ruined, people are being slaughtered.” Gjergj Bardhi writes that half of the highland has abandoned the country.
