On April 11th, 1948, began the construction of Durres-Tirana railway. The line of 38 km, connecting the capital with the biggest port of the country, has 50 works of art, including Erzen Bridge and the tunnel 420k long. It was built with volunteer work for 10 months. In February 1949, the first train departed from Tirana and arrived in Durres. This was the second railway line built in Albania.
