In the White Field of Gjirokastra, on May 5th, 1922, was born Adil Çarçani, a political activist, and an anti-fascist fighter. After the liberation, he led important state tasks. During 1959-1965, he served as Minister of Construction and Geology, 17 years as Deputy Prime Minister and from 1982 to 1990, Chairman of the Council of Ministers.
