In the Bulgarian capital Sofia on March 10th, 1907 our expatriates published the first number of the newspaper “Shkopi”. It was directed by the patriot Athanas Tashko. The content was prepared by the Albanian colony of Egypt. The newspaper had satirical colours and treated social and political issues. As the first Albanian satirical newspaper it had a great repercussion. In its pages, it defended the national rights, freedom and independence of the people, the issue of Albanian language and schools.
