The Medal of the Supreme Military Order of Russia
In 1759, Himara’s people sent a letter to Elisabeth empress of Russia. Written in Italian, in this letter was expressed to Cari, the readiness to fight together against the ottomans. The Himara’s people responding to the exclamation of the leaders, joined Russian forces and participated in Russian-Turkish wars. They were well known for bravery and fearlessness in battles. The highest military Order of Russia hold the name of Saint Victorious George. In his honor is baptized with Georgevskaya name one of the grand halls of Kremlin. Exactly, in this hall is eternalizing with golden letters the name of the Albanian military battalion.
Because of the Ottoman persecution, are displaced from Albania approximately 5000 Albanians, and today they are living in Ukraine. They still continue, to preserve the language and old traditions of our country. In 1911 Fan Noli held the liturgies in the church of this community, while in 1979 the same thing did At Liolini of the Albanian church in Boston, USA.
