The second siege of Kruja started on 15 June 1466 and ended by the end of that year. The Ottoman army, led by Sultan Mehmeti II itself, consisted of 200,000 armed forces with the most modern means of time, while Gjergj Kastrioti had only 13,000 fighters. He stood outside the castle and performed bold and persistent actions. On 1 August Mehmeti II was forced to leave Kruja, leaving 80,000 soldiers to continue the siege. But Albanians, with lightning strikes, shattered the enemy, killing commander Ballaban Pasha. The Ottoman garrisons, some of the castles and other strategic points of the country, were also destroyed.
