In the ancient city of Berat, on May 7th, 1937, was born Irfan Velcan, an agricultural economist and journalist. He took his first lessons at home, while in Tirana he headed “Agricultural Economics”. As a correspondent for the “Bashkimi” newspaper, he went to all the villages and areas of Berat and Lushnja. In 1948, he was appointed editor in this newspaper and worked there until he retired in 1987. During more than 40 years of journalism, the most of time he worked in the agricultural economy sector. Irfan Velcan, has left a series of articles: chronicle, news, correspondence and reportage, published on the “Bashkimi” pages, but also in other notebooks in the center and in the districts.
