The Venetian Senate’s decision, dated on May 6th, 1403, regarding the organization of the protection of Shkodra, which was at that time under the rule of the Republic, has come to our day. The document shows that the early attacks of the Ottoman hordes had not yet touched the Venetian possessions in the Balkans, and the Senate tried to reduce defense forces and cut down on the costs of keeping them.
