The struggle for the protection of the Albanian regions of Plava and Gucia from the annexation of Montenegro, continued two years. The decisive battle between the Albanian volunteers and Montenegro became, on January 5th, 1880, in Velike and Pepic, where after three days of bloody fighting were defeated the Montenegrin forces. It had a great effect that crossed the boundaries of Albanian territories and united more Albanians around the League of Prizren.
