Knowing that the Vatican and some European princes were preparing a new crusade, to avoid the Turkish attacks, he accepted the proposal of Istanbul and in the beginning of April 1463, concluded a 10-year peace with the sultan, which ended in November of the same year, with the attacks that Skanderbeg undertook urged by the Pope and Venice.
