In 1460, Scanderbeg had managed to make a truce with the Turks and this gave him the opportunity to help his ally Alfonso V. He returned to Albania in 1462. Knowing that the Vatican and some European princes were preparing a new crusade, to avoid the Turkish attacks, he accepted the proposal of Istanbul and in the beginning of April 1463, concluded a 10-year peace with the sultan, which ended in November of the same year, with the attacks that Skanderbeg undertook urged by the Pope and Venice.
