It has come to our day, a report of 1332 that Archbishop of Tivar, Gulielm Adam, sent to Philip VII, the king of Burgundy. Among other things, it says: “Although the Arbëreshe have a different language than the Latin language, they still use Latin as well as in all books.” This important document proves that the alphabet and the Albanian language have existed at least since the 14th century. Likewise, we can say, Albanians had their books in their mother tongue before 1332.
