25th November 1912, Elbasan; the first city to declare independence

Albania’s first city that raised the Albanian flag and declared the independence was Elbasan. On November 25^th, 1912, Elbasan patriots, liberated their town from five centuries occupation and declared it part of free independent Albania.Their example was followed from the other cities of central Albania: Durres, Tirana, Kavaja, Peqin, Lushnja.
