At the initiative of Avni Rustemi, in Gjirokastra, on July 25, 1921, a “Teachers ‘Relationship” was formed, defending teachers’ rights and serving as a support to democratic movement, education and culture development and school secularisation. Such links were also created in other cities of the country. Their initiative, in August 1924, was held in Tirana, the Educational Congress, where they formed the General League of Teachers of Albania, “which held a decisive struggle for the development of education on national and democratic principles.
